Sofoil's Success Ripples Through 25 Countries: Global Interest Peaks in AI-Enhanced Oil Production

Sofoil experts participated in the 10th annual Caspian Technical Conference organized by SPE. Over the course of the three-day conference from November 21 to 23, 2023, there was a concentrated effort to exchange technical knowledge. Over 500 participants joined from 97 organizations and 25 countries, with discussions seamlessly flowing in both English and Russian.

Technical expert D.N. Gulyaev from Sofoil presented in the "Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation" section, sharing the company's experience in the field with a presentation: "Injection Optimization for Increased Oil Production Increase by Quantitative Assessment of Crosswell Interference Based on Machine Learning" (SPE-217622).

Digital analysis of well history bottomhole pressure data for the tested well and production history for all wells in the tested area allowed for a quantitative determination of crosswell interference and form recommendations to adjust production targets for injectors and producers, thereby enhancing the efficiency of oil recovery.

By implementing the recommendations, the operating company achieved a remarkable one-and-a-half-fold increase in oil production within just three months. This project has attracted substantial interest, sparking discussions on the technology's applicability limits and exploring further possibilities for utilizing it in restoring reservoir pressure without well shut-ins.
