Project MRT @ Tatneft
Sofoil successfully applied MRT technology to analyze cross-well interference and reconstruct reservoir pressure history on Tatneft’s producing wells.
The project was carried out in a zone where reservoir pressure was declining, despite the operating company’s implementation of a full reservoir management strategy and a functioning pressure support system.
Using PCT-based surveillance, Sofoil experts confirmed strong connectivity across the productive formation. No pinch-outs or reservoir discontinuities were identified, no undeveloped reserves remained in the area, and there was no evidence of time-related skin buildup. However, the team did detect a risk of premature water breakthrough from the injection wells.
To mitigate this, Sofoil recommended reducing injection rates in one well while increasing injection in two other wells, to reinforce reservoir pressure and enhance production rates.
The results of this project were presented at the SPE conference in October 2020.
