DESCRIPTION

Pulse Code Testing is an advanced implementation of pressure interference testing based on PolyGon oftware and bottomhole pressure/rate readings which can be performed on active wells without shutting in receivers and does not cause production deferment. It provides estimation of reservoir permeability and thickness separately and in the case of contrast fluids mobilities, it shows a good accuracy to displacement efficiency. Although PCT can be performed over the existing PDG and surface production data, the logging accuracy can be substantially improved when using the zFlux downhole pressure/rate tools.

ASSESING RESERVOIR PARAMETERS WITH MULTI-WELL PRESSURE PULSE-CODE TESTING (PCT)
APPLICATIONS
Production Enhancement
  • Locating priority zones for the new wells and side-tracks
  • Selecting priority candidates for workovers (water shut-off, stimulation, fracturing)
  • Optimize production targets
  • Control of displacement efficiency in waterflooding
  • Identifying the best candidates for converting to injection
Reservoir Study
  • Assessing the length and orientation of hydraulic fractures
  • Assessing the length and orientation of hydraulic fractures
  • Assessing the length and orientation of hydraulic fractures
  • Localizing the barriers and pinch outs
  • Calibrating shale breaks
  • Quantification of the cross-well interference
  • Quantification of reservoir properties in cross-well interval
  • Quantification of reservoir properties in near-well area
  • Assessing formation permeability
  • Assessing formation compressibility
  • Assessing end-points in relative permeabilities
  • Early diagnostics of complications
KEY ADVANTAGES
  • Multi-well scanning
  • No requirements to shut-in the test well and off-set wells
  • High tolerance to external contamination of unknown origin
  • Early diagnostics of well and reservoir underperformance
